Lexmark Healthcare Continues Commitment to Interoperability and Clinical Collaboration through RSNA Image Sharing Initiative
LEXINGTON, Ky.

News Facts

  • Lexmark International, a global technology leader, today announced that Lexmark Healthcare will participate in the Image Share Validation Program, sponsored by RSNA in collaboration with The Sequoia Project. Lexmark is one of eight imaging technology providers selected to participate.

  • The Image Share Validation Program was created to encourage adoption of image-sharing capabilities by imaging vendors and radiology sites, expanding access to medical images and reports. Image sharing improves physician and patient communication and helps engage patients in their own healthcare. Improved access to imaging records enables better collaboration and decision making among physicians involved in a patient’s care, leading to more efficient utilization of imaging systems and improved patient safety and care by eliminating redundant imaging procedures.

  • The Image Share Validation Program will test the compliance of Lexmark Healthcare and other vendors’ systems using quality standards determined most effective for accurate and efficient exchange of medical images, including those used in the RSNA Image Share Network. Validation provides a number of benefits to providers and patients, including enhanced quality of care, improved efficiency, reduced costs, and standards-based interoperability to spur innovation. Vendors that successfully pass the testing program will be awarded the right to use the RSNA Image Share Validation mark to convey to purchasers that their products have achieved compliance with the capabilities tested in the program.

  • Lexmark’s healthcare business unit has participated in RSNA programs for more than 15 years. Since developing the healthcare industry’s first definitive vendor neutral archive, Lexmark has become a recognized leader in standards-based technology for making images and other unstructured patient content available across and beyond the technical and physical boundaries of a healthcare enterprise. An October 2015 IHS Technology Report recognized Lexmark Healthcare as the global market share leader among independent vendor neutral archive (VNA) software vendors.

  • Lexmark has more than a decade of U.S. and international healthcare interoperability validation through participation in Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Connectathons in the U.S. and Europe, including more than 70 IHE profiles tested across image management, connectivity and sharing/exchange product lines. Lexmark Healthcare provides Connectathon results as well as a conformity assessment report to prospective customers.
