LEXMARK TO SHOWCASE HOW SMART MFPS ACCELERATE BENEFITS OF KEY HEALTHCARE IT INITIATIVES AT HIMSS

Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE: LXK) is attending the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference to present solutions and services that complement key IT initiatives such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and physician order management to quickly enhance clinician productivity and patient safety. The 2008 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition is being held Feb. 24-28 in Orlando, Fla.
"Lexmark’s solutions let healthcare providers affordably take immediate action to help free clinicians from the burden of time-consuming, paper-based processes," said Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. "Lexmark understands the needs of clinicians and is uniquely positioned to help them move toward an optimized EMR infrastructure."
Lexmark will demonstrate its cost-effective document capture solutions that help healthcare facilities automatically scan documents into EMR management systems and easily integrate with a hospital’s existing IT infrastructure. The solutions are part of Lexmark’s healthcare solutions and services suite, which also features:

DOCUMENTS ON DEMAND

Documents are essential tools in a clinician’s day-to-day operations. There may be hundreds of documents and forms used in clinical areas with as many as 30 commonly used documents at a nursing station. These documents are created, ordered, distributed, stored and managed at a significant expense to the organization. In addition, it can be difficult to ensure that the most recent version of each document is being used. Accurate, high-quality documents are also essential for patient discharge education and important for patient safety and the highest quality of care.
Documents on Demand replaces expensive preprinted forms with intelligent bar coded forms to automate many of the antiquated workflow processes prevalent in nursing stations today, helping customers bridge from a paper-based environment to digitally enabled processes. The result is less time handling paperwork and more time caring for patients.

LEXMARK QUEUE & VIEW

A powerful prescription for faster, more efficient physician order processing, the Lexmark Queue & View™ solution utilizes the power of Lexmark multifunction products (MFPs) and proven physician order management software to eliminate time-consuming, error-prone faxing. An onscreen view of the order queue enables fast, accurate follow-through. STAT orders are automatically routed to the top of the queue and pertinent patient information is read directly from a barcode on the order so no additional processing is required to index the order for the queue.

DISTRIBUTED FLEET MANAGEMENT

Through its Distributed Fleet Management (DFM) services, Lexmark provides healthcare enterprises with managed print services, giving them complete visibility and control over their distributed printing environment. Lexmark’s DFM services can be uniquely tailored for healthcare to help organizations prepare for an electronic medical record, save time and improve productivity, minimize cost per page on devices and significantly reduce the number of pages printed.

LEXMARK CLINICAL ASSISTANT

The Lexmark Clinical Assistant is a Lexmark X646dte monochrome laser MFP, pre-loaded with configurable healthcare-specific applications to simplify clinical workflow processes. Clinicians are able to save time by easily performing burdensome workflow processes with a single touch of an icon on the user-friendly Lexmark eTask touchscreen—without special training.
Lexmark will be at HIMSS in booth #1633 on the show floor.
