Perceptive Software Achieves New Level of Healthcare Interoperability at IHE Connectathon Events in Chicago and Vienna
Perceptive’s healthcare solutions address challenges of secure patient health information exchange with standards-based enterprise content management, vendor neutral archiving and image capture and connectivity technology
SHAWNEE, Kan.

News Facts

  • Lexmark’s Perceptive Software announced today that its 2014 cycle of testing has been successfully completed. Perceptive’s healthcare product suite, including enterprise content management (ECM), vendor neutral archive (VNA) and image capture and connectivity solutions, passed all integration tests at the 2014 IHE North American and European Connectathons.
  • Connectathon is a weeklong interoperability-testing event that offers Perceptive Software and other healthcare IT vendors a unique opportunity for connectivity testing—removing barriers to integration that would otherwise have to be dealt with on site, at the customer's expense.
  • New IHE actors/profiles completed and passed by Perceptive Software in 2014 include the Patient Identity Cross-Reference (PIX) Manager, Patient Demographics Supplier (PDS), Portable Data for Imaging (PDI), Audit Record Repository (ARR), and Cross-Community Access (XCA) Initiating and Responding Gateways (XCA IG and XCA RG).
  • The PIX and PDS actors are part of Perceptive Software’s PIX Manager product developed to help large healthcare organizations manage multiple patient identification domains. The PIX integration profile is related to cross-referencing and linkage of patient information. PDS is part of the Patient Demographics Query (PDQ) Integration Profile that lets applications query a central patient information server and retrieve a patient’s demographic information. Portable Data for Imaging (PDI) provides reliable interchange of image data and diagnostic reports on CDs, DVDs and USB for importing, printing, or optionally, displaying in a browser.
  • ARR allows the centralized management of audit records within an enterprise. It is part of the Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA) Integration Profile that establishes security measures and helps to provide patient information confidentiality, data integrity and user accountability. XCA Gateways facilitate querying and retrieving patient relevant medical data among healthcare facilities and enterprises that are affiliated to share clinical information.
  • Prior IHE profiles retested and passed by Perceptive Software in 2014 include XDS Registry, XDS Repository, XDS Document Source, XDS Consumer, XDS-SD Content Creator, XDM Portable Media Importer, PIX Source (V2 and V3), PIX Consumer (V2 and V3), PDQ Consumer (V2 and V3), ATNA and CT.
  • At the European Connectathon, Perceptive Software focused on its VNA solution, successfully testing the Cross-Enterprise User Assertion (XUA) actor which provides authorization support in XDS. Perceptive Software engineers also provided supportive testing for the XDS.b Document Repository and Document Registry actors, lending expertise and assistance to other software vendors participating in the event.
  • In February, Perceptive Software participated in the HIMSS IHE Interoperability Showcase in Orlando, Florida. Perceptive combined with other healthcare IT solution providers to demonstrate cross-enterprise document sharing (XDS) scenarios that included image sharing among hospital and ambulatory settings and exchange of medical information between electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Perceptive Software’s content management for the clinical enterprise is used by healthcare organizations to create, store, distribute, discover, archive and manage unstructured content (such as scanned documents, email, reports, medical images and office documents), and ultimately analyze usage to enable organizations to deliver relevant content to users where and when they need it. Perceptive’s Acuo VNA provides the capability to manage all types of DICOM and non-DICOM content through a standards-based architecture. It includes an embedded XDS registry and repository, offering IHE-based foundation components for health information exchange.
  • IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information and automate workflow. IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as DICOM, HL7 and web services to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care providers to use information more effectively.
